Quick answers to the most common questions about SortlyAI.

General

What is SortlyAI? A memory layer for your knowledge work: save bookmarks, notes, files, recordings, and highlights; let AI organize and connect them; and ask your whole library questions. See What is SortlyAI.

Do I need to install anything? No. The web dashboard works in any modern browser. The extension and apps just make capture faster.

Is there a free plan? Yes. Free lets you build a full library, save every item type, and search it, plus a small taste of the AI. See Plans & pricing.

Capturing

How do I save a page? Click the extension icon, right-click → Save to SortlyAI, use Add Bookmark in the dashboard, or forward it to your save-by-email address.

Can I save PDFs and documents? Yes. Upload them in Files. SortlyAI extracts their text so they're searchable, and you can highlight PDFs in place.

Can it transcribe YouTube videos and podcasts? Yes. Save the link and choose transcribe. You get a transcript, chapters, and a summary. See Media capture.

Organizing

What's the difference between collections and tags? A collection is a single home for an item and holds every item type. Tags are cross-cutting labels an item can have several of.

How do I move items between collections? Drag them onto a collection in the sidebar, drop them into an open collection, or right-click → Move to Collection.

Do my highlights sync across devices? Yes. Web-page and PDF highlights are stored on your account; a PDF highlight made on Mac shows up in the same spot on the web and iPhone. See Highlights.

AI

Does the AI answer from the internet or from my stuff? From your stuff. Ask your library retrieves from your saved content and cites the sources it used.

Why did the chat say I'm out of messages? Chat is metered per plan (Free 5/month, Trial 25/day, Pro 100/day, Premium 300/day). See Plans & pricing.

Account & data

Is my data private? Your library is yours: it's stored in the EU, isolated per account, and never sold or used for ads. The extension only checks the pages you visit if you turn on page lookup, and never in incognito. See the Privacy Policy.

Can I export my library? Yes, on every plan. Settings → Import / Export → Export everything downloads one zip with your bookmarks (including a file any browser can import), notes as Markdown, original files, voice notes with transcripts and audio, highlights and snapshots. See Importing your data.

How do I delete my account? Settings → Delete Account. Everything is deleted immediately: your library, files, recordings and settings, and any paid subscription is cancelled. Export first if you want a copy.

What happens if I cancel? You keep everything you saved. The paid AI quotas revert to the free limits, and API keys pause until you upgrade again. See Billing.
