Bookmarks & web pages
Save any page in one click, from the extension or the dashboard, and see what your library already knows.
Bookmarks are the backbone of SortlyAI. A bookmark is a saved web page (an article, a video, a product, a doc) enriched with a title, description, favicon, and (on paid plans) an AI summary and suggested tags.
Saving from the browser extension
The extension is the fastest way to save what you're reading:
- Click the SortlyAI icon to save the current page.
- Right-click → Save to SortlyAI on a page, link, or image.
- Select text, then right-click → Save highlight to save a passage (this saves the page too if it isn't already). See Highlights.
The extension also shows an "On this page" panel: whether you've saved the page before, how many highlights you have on it, and semantically related items from across your whole library.
Adding from the dashboard
In the web dashboard, use + New → Add Bookmark at the top of the sidebar to paste a URL, optionally set a title, and choose a collection. On the Mac app, the same composer is on the toolbar (or press ⌘N).
Other ways in
- Save by email: forward any link to your personal address.
- Import: bring bookmarks over from Pocket, Raindrop, Chrome, or Safari in bulk.
What happens after you save
- SortlyAI fetches the page's title, description, and favicon.
- On paid plans, AI generates a short summary and suggests tags.
- The bookmark is indexed so it shows up in search and can be cited by Ask your library.
- If the page is a YouTube video or podcast episode, you can turn it into a transcript and digest. See Media capture.
Working with a bookmark
- Click a bookmark card to open its details beside the list: summary, highlights, link status, collection, and buttons to open the page, edit it, or view snapshots. On narrower screens the details slide in over the list. Press Escape to close.
- Hover a card for three quick actions: Move to a collection, Open the page, and More (highlights, snapshots, media digest, AI summary, edit, delete).
- The library groups bookmarks by when you saved them: this week, this month, then by month and year.
Link health & snapshots
SortlyAI stores a snapshot of each page's text when you save it, so you keep the content even if the original disappears. On Pro and Premium it also flags links that have gone dead and pages that changed since you saved them. See Link health & snapshots.
Tip
Revisiting matters as much as saving. SortlyAI resurfaces saves you haven't looked at in a while through the Revisit queue.
