Collections
Group any kind of item into collections, the folders of your library, and file things by drag, drop, or menu.
Collections are SortlyAI's folders. Unlike tags, a collection can hold every kind of item side by side: bookmarks, notes, files, and voice notes. An item lives in one collection at a time (or none).
Collections Studio
The dashboard home is Collections Studio: a cross-library overview with a card per collection showing true counts by type (bookmarks, notes, files, recordings). Click a collection to open it, or a tag within it to filter. Items not in any collection sit in Unsorted.
Creating & describing
Create a collection from the sidebar or Collections Studio, give it a name, and optionally an icon, color, and a short description so its purpose is clear at a glance.
Filing items into a collection
There are three ways to move items:
- Drag one or more rows onto a collection in the sidebar. Hovering over the collapsed Collections group springs it open.
- Right-click → Move to Collection on any item (bookmark, note, file, or voice note) and pick a collection or Unsorted.
- Drop into an open collection: while viewing a collection's items, drag rows straight into the pane.
All three work across the web dashboard and the native apps, and they move multi-selected items together.
Auto-filing with AI
Right after an import, the Organize with AI panel can tag an untagged batch and suggest themed collections you create with one click. Pro
Note
Collections span all item types; tags are bookmark-centric today. Use collections for "projects" or "areas," and tags for cross-cutting topics. See Tags.
